Commonly two to four weeks from notice to being fully operational, driven by regulator processing, lender registration and your notice period, with live files planned around it.
Plan for two to four weeks. The licence transfer itself is usually processed by the regulator within days once the forms are complete, but three other clocks run alongside it: the notice period in your current agreement, lender registration under the new brokerage so your first submissions are not delayed, and the live files that need to close under one brokerage or the other.
The fastest switches run everything in parallel. Give notice, file the transfer, start lender registrations and map the pipeline in the same week. The slowest ones do each step in sequence and discover a live file in the wrong place at closing.
Commercial brokers should allow longer, because commercial files run on 45 to 90 day timelines and a switch has to be planned around them. Read the full guide for the province by province steps and a pipeline map you can copy.
A switch here is planned around your pipeline, not ours. We map every live file with you, run the licence transfer and lender registrations in parallel, and line up the first hard file for the Deal Desk so the first week is a funded file, not a form. Clients you originate are yours, including the renewal and the referral, and that is written down.
