Should I leave my mortgage brokerage?

SHORT ANSWER

Switch if a specific gap is costing you files, clients or hours and the next brokerage has fixed it in writing. Do not switch for a split alone; run net income first.

Brokers rarely leave over the split, whatever the recruiting conversation says. They leave because a hard file had nobody to call, because their submissions sat in a bottom tier queue, because compliance was left to them, because the marketing support turned out to be a logo, or because year six looked exactly like year two. If one of those is costing you files, clients or hours, that is a reason.

Test the next brokerage against the specific gap, not against the whole pitch. Who answers at 9pm. What status your files carry. What head office carries. What a broker who joined three years ago does now. Get the answers in writing.

Stay if the gap is fixable where you are, or if the only difference is a few points of split that disappears once fees are counted. Move if the gap is structural and the next place has closed it. The full guide lists the eight reasons and the question that tests each.

Our approach

A switch here is planned around your pipeline, not ours. We map every live file with you, run the licence transfer and lender registrations in parallel, and line up the first hard file for the Deal Desk so the first week is a funded file, not a form. Clients you originate are yours, including the renewal and the referral, and that is written down.
