SOUND FAMILIAR?

You became a broker to talk to clients

Now the week is conditions, documents, compliance forms and lender follow ups, and the clients get what is left.

Ask a broker at $15 million where the hours go and the honest answer is not origination. It is chasing a notice of assessment, re uploading a document the lender lost, filling in the compliance file, and following up on a commitment that was due Tuesday. The work that pays, finding and advising clients, gets the evenings.

Hiring an assistant feels like the fix, and sometimes it is. But it is also a payroll, a training job and a management job, taken on by someone who signed up to broker mortgages.

What it looks like

Conditions at midnight

Every file has eight to twelve conditions and you are the only person tracking them. One missed condition is a missed closing.

Compliance you do alone

FINTRAC reporting, disclosure forms, file audits. Nobody at your brokerage checks it until a regulator does.

Payroll and paperwork

Commission statements, invoices, licence renewals and continuing education, all managed by you, on your time.

The real cause

The brokerage model in Canada often stops at the split. Everything after funding, and most things before it, land on the broker. That is not a personal failing. It is a brokerage choice, and some brokerages choose differently.

What changes

At A.I.M.I. Collective compliance, payroll and deal processing are handled at head office, and the broker portal holds documents, invoices, statements and training in one place. When you do hire, the hire is for origination rather than paperwork. Read about the training and support model, the portal and technology, and what a brokerage should actually provide.

Our approach

Brokers here follow eight stages, from the first client to a business that does not depend on the broker's hours. Head office carries processing, compliance review and payroll. The Deal Desk carries the commercial and alternative file. What we do not do is hand out leads, because brokerages that promise them rarely deliver. We provide the infrastructure. You build the book.

Common questions

Does A.I.M.I. Collective handle deal processing for brokers?
Yes. Compliance, payroll and deal processing are handled at head office as part of being here, not as a paid add on.
Can I still use my own assistant?
Yes. Many brokers do. The difference is that the assistant works on your pipeline rather than on paperwork the brokerage already covers.
What technology is included?
The broker portal is included at no cost. BrokerDam, an AI powered CRM built for Canadian brokers, is a separate product available to our brokers at a member rate.
