Not automatically. Income depends on funded volume and split, not the title. A broker licence opens private lending and supervision, which can add income.
A mortgage agent and a mortgage broker are paid the same way: a fee when the mortgage funds, shared with the brokerage at an agreed split. Two people with the same volume and the same split earn about the same, whatever the licence says.
In Ontario the difference is what each licence allows. A Level 1 agent is limited to financial institutions and CMHC approved lenders. A Level 2 agent or a broker can arrange private mortgages and work with private investors and lenders, and a broker can supervise agents. Those extra files and responsibilities are where the higher licence can add income.
If you want to earn more, funded volume is the first lever. The licence matters once your clients need private lending or you want to lead a team.
A.I.M.I. Collective works with agents and brokers at every level in BC, Alberta and Ontario. Agents at every level can bring a file they cannot place to the Deal Desk.
